Thinning Tresses? Reasons, Remedies about Hair Fall problem

Known as human’s crowning glory; it is not surprising to see beauty conscious to flaunt their fabulous shining thick hair. And with appealing TV, radio, print and online ads these days, everyone can find their own brands of hair products that will satisfy their need.  The problem is their products may worsen your major concern, thinning hair or loss. To begin with shampoo or combing while your hair is wet is not the main cause of thinning hair according to Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist with the Cleveland Clinic in her interview with Time.  Piliang also debunked that using ponytail, wearing hat, towel drying, and braiding are also not the reason why hair strands falling from the head.

“If a ponytail is worn so tightly it pulls on your eyes, that could damage your hair and lead to breakage,” the dermatologist explained. “But generally wearing a ponytail or a hat won’t cause hair loss.”

Meantime, Dr. Adam Friedman, director of dermatologic research at the Montefiore-Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, shared that apart from taking medicine to stop hair fall like finasteride and minoxidil, it is good also to check your total health or lifestyle. Friedman added there’s link between hair loss and lack of essential nutrients such as iron, vitamin B, zinc and vitamin D.

According to Health Magazine other factors about this problem are emotional and physical stress such as child birth or surgery; too much vitamin; lack of protein;  male pattern baldness; hormonal imbalance, Hypothyroidism, Lupus,  dramatic weight loss, Polycystic ovary syndrome, over styling, aging, and Anabolic steroids.

Notice that not all factors are just simple health concerns such as Trichotillomania, a disorder in which a patients pulling their hair compulsively; and anabolic steroid, which is a kind of abuse common among athletes to build muscle.

 3 Natural Remedies for Healthier Hair

It is recommended to consult doctors to know why you are experiencing hair fall or worst, hair loss.  In some cases hair fall is just a manifestation of severe illness than regular beauty problem.  Meantime, here are some of the natural treatments to keep your hair beautiful and healthy.

Hair Mask made in Egg Yolk.   Lack of protein is one reason of hair loss so better to beef up your diet with foods that are rich in this nutrient like eggs, fish, chicken and nuts.  Speaking of egg, BBC’s Good Food shared that hair mask made of egg yolk, mashed avocado and honey (spoonful) is a nourishing treatment if you do it every two weeks.

Massage your Hair with Onion Juice.  According to Journal of Dermatology, their study (published in 2002) about people who applied onion juice twice a day proved hair growth in about six weeks.

Apply Aloe Vera Gel.     Use of aloe vera for treating several hair problems is not new among Filipinos. But for everyone information, aloe vera is good for hair and scalp because of its enzymes and alkaline elements.  To use it on your tresses, make a gel or juice out of it and then apply on your scalp (about 30  minutes).  Apart from it, Top Ten Home Remedies informed you can also drink its juice.

“You can also consume one tablespoon of aloe vera juice daily on an empty stomach to enjoy better hair growth,” the site shared.
