Get Health Access | Quick Tips in Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 | On March 16, 2020, the government of the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte, declared enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to prevent the rapid spreading of the New Coronavirus Disease. This Coronavirus disease or also known as COVID-19 is characterized as a mild symptom including a runny nose, cough, sore throat, and fever. Illness can be more severe for some people and can lead to pneumonia or breathing difficulties.
This disease is fatal for older people and people with a medical condition such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease. You may experience a runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, and difficulty in breathing. Below are tips for preventing of COVID-19.
1) Don’t Go! Stay at Home
– Isolate yourself from other people. You should restrict your activities outside your home, except for getting medical care. Please as much as possible that you should not go to work and request work from home. The school in Luzon is suspended until April 14, 2020, so all the students out there, please refrain from going outside.
2) Wear a Facemask
– This applies to the people with an illness, it will help to prevent the spread of COVID-19. For those people, without COVID-19 it will help you to lessen the risk to have the virus. For the people who need to go to their work especially from the medical fields and grocery industry, please wear a facemask.
3) Don’t Go to the Public Places
– As of now, the malls such as Robinsons, SM Supermalls, and Ayala are now temporary close to prevent the COVID-19 to spread. The priority of the safety and security of their customers, tenants, and employees. At the same time, it will help to establish or strengthen the practice of Social Distancing Measures. But to continue servicing the community, the establishments offering basic service shall be kept open such as supermarkets, drugstores, convenience stores, banks, and other essentials.

You may do something in your home to make yourself busy and not to try to get outside except for buying some groceries and medicines. You might try to read some books, play some online games, do some educational works or leisure, watch some videos or series, and many more.
4) Cover Your Coughs and Sneezes
– When you cough or sneeze, please cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. Dispose of properly the tissue by throwing in the trash can. After that, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
5) Clean Your Hands!
– Clean your hands often with soap and water at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Rub your hands thoroughly until you feel dry. Water and Soap are the best options if hands are visibly dirty. Remember that avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

In the absence of alcohol due to the hoarding of some people, you may this solution. Dilute one glass of Zonrox or Clorox in nine glasses of water (this is good for soaking of floor mats and for spraying of areas desired to be germ-free). For the hand wash, get one glass of diluted solution in the previous instruction and mix it with another nine glasses of water (good as an alternative to Isopropyl alcohol). Avoid rinsing and washing this to your face.
6) Avoid Sharing Personal Household Items
– Don’t share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, or other personal stuff with other people in your home. After you use it, you should wash it thoroughly with soap and water.
